Extended study task 3 - Lumen - final week
Here is our final animated sequence. Meg used after effects to animate the slow movements. In the end, the projection worked out pretty well, we didn't want to make something too complicated and I feel like it was successful.
Extended study task 3 - Lumen - week 3
Here I illustrated the assets for Meg to animate in after effects. we decided to stick with just having the town hall in the animation as it is the most significant and recognisable building in leeds.
I decided to keep the illustration a little bit more detailed than I should have. I feel like I got too carried away when sketching it out and tried to simplify it down in photoshop. I decided on this yellowish, brown colour but made it a lot more brighter so it will stand out on the building.
This is the Christmas hat that will slowly fall into the shot and on top of the town hall.
I feel like this idea is simple and quick, like the brief asked for.
Extended - study task 3 - Lumin Brief - first meet up - week 2
We wanted to incorporate significant leeds building such as the town hall, corn exchange, and our own University building. We want to have chistmas hats to fall on the building and snow to fall at the end to make it christmas themed.
I feel like the motion in this one could be tricky to animate quickly and efficiently.
For all these ideas, we would illustrate the assets first and then use after effects to animate them, because we want everything to look simple.
I came up with a few ideas for the lumen brief. I stuck with the guidelines that they had to be simple and avoid intricate storylines.
After meeting with the client, he suggested that we stick with the storyboards we had come up with and develop them further, he also suggested that we focus on the building storyboard, but drop the corn exchange and our building and just focus on the town hall.
Extended - Lumin Brief - week 1 - research
After being briefed on the Lifting tower brief, I decided to do some visual research into what had already been created for the brief in previous years.
The relevant points for the animations to translate well onto the uneven and dark wall of the lifting tower made in the briefing was:
The relevant points for the animations to translate well onto the uneven and dark wall of the lifting tower made in the briefing was:
- Has to be Christmas theme
- Bright colours
- Simplistic
- could be geometric
- avoid storylines as this could become complicated
Because this is my first time working for a client, I decided to team up with meg because I wanted to have someone else to bounce off. Our next step is to brainstorm and create some storyboards for simple animations that fit the guidelines.
