In week 4, I decided to create a couple more wax resist images as well as two mock up designs. I quite like the idea of having a boarder around the from of the cards so they are easily distinguished when they are put onto the poster.
We want the main focus of the card to be the illustration of the little sea creature, as well as the interesting and strange facts that are on the backs of the card. We discussed how we would like the card to be stickers that would peel off for us to stick onto the poster.
Here, I created a quick mock up of the poster. I decided to put the title "Deep Sea Adventure" in the top right corner as a pose to being in the centre at the top because we are wanting the poster design to be unique, and sort of challnge the usual norms that are associated with composition. We are also wanting to be heavily influence by the compositions that are use in Anorak Mag for children, so we want everything to have a place on the poster, but also have a flat and hectic composition.
When I met with my group this week, we all decided that we would use Bronte's designs of the characters as they were clear and concise. I was quite disappointed with this because I would have quite liked to have used my designs as a combination, but in order to keep the style consistent, we will use Bronte's.
These are a few of Bronte's designs. We scanned them in and deleted the negative space and made the lines black so it would be easier to colour in next week.
We have a crit session coming up soon so we decided to create the presentation for that together to show.
I feel as though these past two weeks I haven't really done much as this stage in the process is finalising the illustrations which was up to Bronte. We all agreed that me and Sophie would help each other put together the card and poster designs. We would mainly focus on the card designs as they are the main focus for the submission.
