Six eyed cutie from Brogan Dudley on Vimeo.
Here is my final response to Loopdeloops them "Six".
I chose this brief to submit to as I haven't submitted any animations to competitions as of yet because I enjoy the design aspect on Animation more than animating.
The process
Because I didn't have much time left until my deadline as I was prioritising Collaborative and COP over responsive for a while, I decided to go with a quick initial idea which was an animal with six eyes.
I decided to choose a pug because they have wrinkly and interesting faces so I could create a strange looking character with bug eyes.
I created this quick sketch for me to work on top of to create my Loopdeloop. My concept was to have an ugly pug with six eyes that roll around and loop back on itself. I decided to get rid of his body and just focus on his face because that was the main focal point. However, I feel like the body could have been the perfect comedic element to the Loopdeloop.
Overall, this took me a couple of hours to create from start to finish. Even though not much movement happens, I'm quite happy with how it looks. If I had given myself more time and not prioritised other projects and briefs over responsive then I could have created a more interesting animation with sound. I could have had the pug's eyes roll about more and bulge out in places and have saliva drip down his chin. I do wish I had submitted to this competition more than once as I feel like it is a good practice and isn't as much of a challenge as I thought. I would like to create more well-rounded loopdeloops that have more of a narrative and more movement.
